No. There is no photograph hidden behind the threads. The image is created entirely using thread, nails and the contrast between the different thread paths.

Even when the same photograph and design are used, small variations in nail placement and thread positioning can occur. These subtle differences are part of the handmade character of each piece.

The artwork combines technology and traditional craftsmanship.

Computer-based image processing is used to calculate the string pattern, while the physical artwork is constructed by hand. The nails are placed manually and the thread is individually woven around them.

No. We do not use AI to generate the artwork. We use our own computer-based image-processing techniques to analyse the photograph and calculate the string pattern. The final artwork is then constructed by hand.

The threading process alone takes approximately 30 hours for one artwork. This does not include the time required to design and build the wooden frame, prepare the materials, place the nails or complete the final finishing.

The total production time can vary depending on the size and complexity of the artwork.

Yes. Every nail is placed by hand.

Because the nails are manually positioned, you may notice very small variations in their placement. These subtle imperfections are part of what makes each handmade artwork unique and distinguish it from something produced entirely by a machine.

Our frames are made from pine wood.

Each frame is prepared specifically for the artwork, creating the structure needed to support the nails and thousands of individual thread connections.

Yes. Custom photographs are welcome. Before we begin, your image must go through our technical validation process to determine whether it can be successfully translated into string art.

Photographs with good lighting, clear subjects and strong contrast usually work best.

For portraits, close-up or medium-distance photographs with clearly visible facial features tend to produce better results. Very dark, blurry, heavily edited or extremely complex photographs may be more difficult to translate into string art.

No. Not every photograph can be effectively converted into string art.

Images with clear subjects, good contrast, simple backgrounds and well-defined features generally produce better results. During the validation process, we will assess your photograph and let you know whether we believe it is suitable.

Your photograph is first reviewed through our technical validation process. We assess factors such as composition, contrast, subject visibility and overall complexity.

If the photograph is suitable, we can proceed with the next stage of the custom artwork process. If it is not suitable, we will let you know before production begins.

Yes. Custom artwork goes through our validation process before production. We use this stage to determine whether the photograph is suitable and whether the resulting string pattern can produce a successful artwork.

Because custom artworks require preparation and validation before production, changes may not be possible once the artwork has entered production.

Yes. Custom sizes are possible.

However, custom dimensions must be reviewed and validated before production so we can determine whether the size is technically suitable and how it may affect the production time.

We recommend displaying your artwork indoors in a dry environment and away from excessive moisture, direct sunlight and areas where it can easily be touched or knocked.

A stable wall and appropriate mounting hardware are recommended, particularly for larger artworks.

We recommend using compressed air to gently remove dust from the threads.

Do not touch, wipe or apply cleaning products or chemicals directly to the threads.

For artworks that include a removable MDF backing, you can remove the backing to make cleaning and dust removal easier.

String art is designed to be displayed rather than handled.

If your artwork is installed in an area where it may be touched by children, pets or other objects, you can apply a small amount of fabric glue to the base of each nail. This helps lock the threads in place and can reduce the risk of the artwork partially unraveling if a thread is accidentally cut.

Each artwork is carefully packaged to help protect it during transportation and preserve its structural and visual integrity.

We take particular care with the thread, nails and wooden frame when preparing the artwork for shipping.

Shipping time is separate from production time and depends on the destination and shipping service selected.

For custom artworks, please allow for the production time in addition to the shipping time.

Yes. Local pickup may be available.
